Gabon and Morocco sign agreement to manufacture agricultural fertilizers
An agreement for the manufacture of agricultural fertilizers was signed yesterday in Libreville between Gabon and Moroccan officials, under the watchful eyes of King Mohammed VI and Ali Bongo Ondimba.
This agreement aims to increase food security in Africa. An ammonia manufacturing plant will be built in Gabon and a phosphate plant in Morocco. Ammonia and phosphate are two raw materials for the manufacture of agricultural fertilizers.
Neither the cost nor the funding of this project have been disclosed. According to a source close to the Gabonese side, production of agricultural fertilizers will begin in five years.
These agricultural fertilizers will be sold in West and Central Africa at reasonable costs, the source said. Other agreements will be signed today during the economic forum between the two countries .
