King Mohammed VI, Ivorian Pres. Chair Ceremony on Côte d’Ivoire-Morocco Economic Impetus Group’s Work
The King Mohammed VI and president of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire Alassane Dramane Ouattara chaired, on Monday at the presidential palace in Abidjan, a ceremony to present the work by the Côte d’Ivoire-Morocco Economic Impetus Group.
At the beginning of the ceremony, chairwoman of Moroccan employers’ association CGEM Miriem Bensalah Chaqroun gave a speech before the sovereign and president Ouattara, in her capacity as vice-president of the Côte d’Ivoire-Morocco Economic Impetus Group, in which she underscored that the group succeeded, since its inception in June 2015, to reinforce cooperation between the Moroccan and Ivorian private sectors by helping them identify shared aspects of complementarity and synergy.
Côte d’Ivoire has become, over the same period, the first destination for Morocco’s foreign investment and trade exchanges between the two countries increased threefold, she said, noting that these investments resulted in the creation of value added and local jobs in various sectors as civil engineering, manufacturing industry, food processing, training, housing and social and economic infrastructure.
CGEM head recalled the recommendations issued by the said group during its latest meeting on Feb.24 as ameliorating the business framework between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire, lifting technical obstacles hampering trade, fostering digital economy cooperation and developing common projects.
The group also recommended the creation of Business To Government (B to G) joint groups which will work closely to address obstacles facing commerce, she added.
President of Ivorian employers’ association CGECI Jean-Marie Ackah voiced gratitude for HM the King and president Ouattara for setting up such powerful cooperation tool.
He recalled that several bilateral cooperation agreements were inked since the inception of the Economic Impetus Group, which has become a model for cooperation.

The ceremony was attended by Ivorian vice-president Daniel Kablan Duncan, Prime minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly, members of the official delegation accompanying HM the King in its friendship and working visit in Côte d’Ivoire, several members of the Ivorian government and economic operators from both countries.
