RCA : A coup was planned and foiled
Under a presidential decree, the election campaign is scheduled for April 12 to 23. The RCA tries to resume a peace process after being confronted for years to many rebellions, Military coups, rebel abuses and “roadblocks”.
But now the Central Government announced it had foiled a proposed coup, scheduled to take place March 15, said Minister of National Security. The ex-president Ange Felix Patasse is seen to be implicated.
Joined from Libreville, Patasse has denied any involvement in an attempt to seize power by force, asserting that he always “struggled to go to the polls. He voiced that he was accused by intelligence services in a report sent to the current president, François Bozizé.
