RCA: Postponement elections may be a blessing act

By on March 24, 2010
When the United Nations, the European Union, the United States and France ask for something to an African state, they can generally take it for granted. These key partners have asked Bangui to postpone presidential and legislative elections, scheduled for next April 25, due to “significant delays” in their preparations.

President Bozize took note of the missive, but prefer rather leave the decision to the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).This statement deemed to be held just for the form, because it is unclear how the RCA president can keep the original dates, because of the following facts:
• Weaknesses are laid bare by historical opponents like Angel Felix Patassé (AFP) and Martin Ziguelé,
• The parties and former rebel groups are demanding to postpone the elections,
• Finally, the international community validates the observation that RCA is far to hold acceptable elections in April because of deficiencies identified from electoral rolls, voter cards, absence of CENI in the north, and finally to a process of unfinished “demobilization, reintegration” electoral process.
In conclusion, the opposition could only require the postponement and President Bozizé, who is applying for the second time, may appear not going with this claim, but if you look closely, he has not much to lose.
During the time required to completely pacify the country and prepare the right conditions, he will remain president, and legitimately expects to win on Election Day.
