RCA: boycott the elections if they should take place

The opposition and rebels who signed the peace agreements will not participate to the presidential or to the legislative elections in Central Africa, if the date of May 16 is maintained. No applications will be filed for the presidency, as well as for the legislative, declared the spokesman of the “Collective Forces of Change”.

The election date should be postponed beyond the constitutional time frame, which is June 11, the end date of President Francois Bozize mandate. But also for all the conditions that are not met in terms of security, census and the revision of the electoral list.
The elections, scheduled on April 25, have been postponed to May 16, according to a presidential decree, but the opposition, the Steering Committee and donors are favorable for the postponement. Then the date of May 16 has been proposed by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), when President Francois Bozize said the elections date could not exceed the constitutional deadline of June 11.
Upon this “Dialogue of deaf”, another declaration released on Wednesday by the Collective of several opposition movements , stating that they feel forced not to file any records or information for the elections, but “reaffirms their unwavering commitment to participate in the presidential and legislative elections scheduled this year. “Unfortunately, at this stage of escalating events, the electoral process is neither credible nor transparent, nor consensual” they said…
