By on June 4, 2010
The Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni asked for the international assistance to eliminate the Lord Resistance Army, a rebel group which operates between the RCA and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

In a speech pronounced to the Ugandan Parliament, the Ugandan president indicated that the international community has to intervene, but not watching the LRA rebels causing damages in the Central African Republic and in DRC.
He also thanked the American president Barack Obama for having signed the 2009 Act for the restructuration of the northern Uganda and the disarmament of the LRA.
The LRA is engaged in attacks in the South of Sudan, the North of the DRC, the Central African Republic and northern Uganda. For more than 20 years, the rebellion caused tens of thousands deaths and about two million persons fled their homes.
