EAC: the East African Community eyed by Turkey

The Community of East Africa (CAE) is a regional intergovernmental organisation including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda based in Arusha, Tanzania.

This block represents a population of 126.6 million and a GDP of 73 billion dollars, has started a development strategy consisting in progress from a customs union, then to a common market, a monetary union and will conclude in a political federation.
Turkey has expressed its interest in creating a regional free trade and investment between Turkey and the EAC; interest shown by the Turkish ambassador, Sander Gurbuz, who presented his credentials to the Secretary General of EAC. Negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement and a Framework Agreement for investment are planned for September of this year.
Are selected among the infrastructure projects and programs of the Community of East Africa, the proposed trade facilitation and transport “bankable”, as the Roads network, railways, civil Aviation and merchant Transportation…
