Ivory Coast: A.U is worrying about the impasse to resolve the crisis

The Council of Peace and Security (CPS) of the African Union released all its anxieties on the lack of progress in the resolution of the crisis in Ivory Coast.

The CPS underlined that all the Ivory Coast parties have to put the interests of the country and its population as a first priority and commit in a peaceful dialogue to end the crisis.
The CPS also called the independent electoral commission and the parties concerned to agree immediately on a calendar of election and to keep the promise to organise the presidential election in 2010, which must be free, fair and transparent.
The Council repeated its appreciation towards President Blaise Compaoré, and encouraged him to keep intensifying his efforts to smooth the obstacles to the elections of 2010. The council also expressed its appreciations to the international community, especially the ECOWAS countries, the African Union and the European Union, all contributing to the process of resolution of the Ivory Coast crisis.
The CSP also decided to send a mission of the Council to the Ivory Coast to contribute more to the resolution of the crisis.
