Guinea: land, sea and river borders are closed

All land, sea and river borders of the Republic of Guinea are closed to entry throughout the country until further notice. No exit is allowed without the special agreement of the competent authorities.

“According to the transitional Prime Minister, Jean-Marie Doré, it is simply a precautionary measure just days before the announcement of the final presidential election results. “There is no danger, but we do insist that things may happen in serenity, he said. This announcement has been giver without any further explanation. The state of emergency was introduced on November 17 due to post-election violence brutally repressed, which caused at least 7 deaths in three days. The state of emergency must end once the final results of the second round will be proclaimed by the Supreme Court, no later than Thursday, December 2, according to one a the court. Moreover, the transition President, General Konaté, has dismissed, by decree, the Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Abubakar Sidiki Camara. The announcement was released on the national radio. Currently, Konaté is on a private visit to Morocco for medical health care check up, and should return on Tuesday, according to official sources.
