Nelson Mandela Foundation takes Mandela’s legacy to America

nelsonThe Nelson Mandela Foundation said Wednesday it will take the Mandela legacy to the United States next month.

The foundation said they are talking Nelson Mandela’s legacy of forgiveness and vision beyond the borders. To celebrate Mandela’s life will be former U. S. president Bill Clinton, Morgan Freeman and the Soweto Gospel choir in New York on Feb. 13, 2014.

“We can all learn from his example. Honesty, sincerity, simplicity, humility, pure generosity, absence of vanity, readiness to serve others — qualities which are within easy reach of every soul — are the foundation of one’s spiritual life. Never forget that a saint is a sinner who keeps on trying,” said the chief executive officer of the foundation, Sello Hatang, citing Nelson Mandela’s letter to his then wife, Winnie.

The foundation indicated that Mandela’s life is a shining light to be emulated by all regardless of race and color. In the New York Mandela tribute concert, the South African award winners Soweto Gospel choir will sing. Morgan Freeman who has acted as Nelson Mandela will narrate Mandela’s life lessons and dramatize it.

“As an advocate for the Nelson Mandela Foundation, I’m honored to host this prestigious event alongside Madiba’s friends, President Clinton and Morgan Freeman. It’s gratifying to see the commitment to Madiba’s legacy not only here in South Africa, but worldwide,” said Gareth Cliff, the South African radio and television personality.

Cliff will be director of ceremony in the event and narrate part of Mandela’s life at the Tribute Concert. The foundation said the concert will showcase Mandela’s life from the time he was young to the post presidency years to share his shinning life lessons.

The foundation will also use documents and archive material to spread the message about Mandela’s life. Mandela’s life is an embodiment of forgiveness, fight for social justice and human rights.
