King Mohammed VI Inaugurates a New Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development of Kenitra
Moroccan Sovereign the King Mohammed VI launched, Tuesday in Kenitra (40km north of Rabat), the strategic plan for the integrated and sustainable development of the province (2015-2020), with a budget of nearly MAD 8.4 billion.This structuring plan was developed in accordance with high royal guidelines for the development of the different cities and urban centers of the Kingdom according to a coherent and balanced vision. It aims to support the urban and demographic development of the province, strengthen its economic positioning, improve the living conditions of its population and preserve the environment.
The plan also seeks to support the advanced regionalization policy, upgrade rural areas, improve socio-cultural and sports facilities in the province, strengthen the road network, promote human development indicators and develop the tourism attractiveness of Mehdia and Moulay Bousselham resorts, as well as protect the environment.
For his part, President of the Council of the city of Kenitra, Aziz Rabbah, said the integrated and sustainable urban development plan of the city of Kenitra (2015-2020) will breathe new life into the city, which will be an attractive living and investment space, as well as a pioneering and competitive pole in the future Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region.
With a total budget of 4.6 billion dirhams, the plan provides for carrying out more than 90 projects with the aim of strengthening basic facilities, promoting urban development of the city, preserving the environment, boosting economic growth, consolidating socio-sports, worship and cultural facilities, promoting higher and technical education, and enhancing local governance.
On this occasion, the King chaired the signing ceremony of five agreements on the implementation of the strategic plan for the integrated and sustainable development of the province of Kenitra (2015-2020).
The Sovereign also launched the project to build a cultural complex in the administrative district of the city of Kenitra (85 million dirhams), part of the strategic plan for the integrated and sustainable development of the province.
A partnership between the urban commune of Kenitra and the Ministry of Culture, this facility will house a 540-seat theater, workshops, a library, an audio-visual room, a conservatory and other dependencies.
