The visit of the King Mohammed VI to Senegal fortifies bilateral relations and upgrades it to reach the‘Special Strategic Partnership’ status
On the occasion of the visit paid by the King Mohammed VI to Senegal, Rabat and Dakar expressed satisfaction at their “special strategic partnership” and the strength of bilateral relations in a range of fields.
“The two heads of state, HM the King and Senegalese President Macky Sall expressed satisfaction at the special strategic partnership between Morocco and Senegal and the strength marking bilateral relations in a set of fields,” underscores a joint statement issued at the end of the King’s visit to Senegal on May 20-28.
The statement adds that bilateral Moroccan-Senegalese relations stand as “a cooperation model in Africa”.
The visit was an opportunity to foster and expand the legal framework governing bilateral ties between the two countries through the signing of 28 cooperation agreements covering a range of economically strategic areas, the same source says.
Promoting human development featured prominently in the visit of the King, who chaired along with President Sall inauguration ceremonies of several human development projects achieved in Senegal with Morocco’s collaboration.
These Human development initiatives that marked the King’s visit include the donation of consignment of medicines and equipment, the launch of works to build a fishing unloading site in Soumbédioune and the inauguration of the rural electrification projects in villages in the region of Louga.
“These projects are reflective of an innovative and practical vision espoused by the two heads of state in favor of fostering stability and development in the African continent on the basis of south-south cooperation and effective solidarity,” recalls the statement.
On this occasion, President Sall welcomed the King’s call for a self-confident Africa that addresses its own challenges and takes its future into its own hands.
The Senegalese President also expressed gratitude at Morocco’s engagement to support Senegal in achieving its development goals through the sharing of expertise in fields pertaining to economic and social development, the statement says.
