King Mohammed VI and president Idriss Déby held a telephone conversation

Moroccan Sovereign King Mohammed VI held, on Monday, a telephone conversation with president of the Republic of Chad, Idriss Déby Itno, said a statement by the royal office.

During this phone call, the two heads of states lauded bilateral cooperation and the ties between the two brotherly countries, it said.

On this occasion, the sovereign asked the Chadian president, in his capacity as chairman of the 27th summit of the African Union (AU), to intervene and contact Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, chairwoman of the AU Commission, in order to distribute to all AU member states Morocco’s adherence request, which was handed to her on Sept. 22.

In fact, Zuma should have distributed this request promptly pursuant to the organization’s charter and practice, the statement added.

The Chadian leader responded positively to HM the King’s request and will do what is necessary in this regard, it concluded.
