Rabat hosts the first African Forum on Prison Administration and Reintegration
Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the General delegation for Prisons’ Administration and Reintegration organizes the first African Forum for Prisons’ Administration and Reintegration, in Rabat, on January 30 and 31, under the slogan “Towards a common vision to enhance South-South cooperation to face challenges and constraints the management of penitentiary institutions” .
The forum aims to enhance efforts made by African countries in the management of penitentiary institutions, support cooperation and, exchange experiences in order to face challenges and adopt multiple and innovative approaches regarding the role of prison institutions, whether at the security level or programs of reinsertion and rehabilitation.
The opening session of this conference will be attended by the head of the government of Morocco, the General Delegate of DGAPR, the President of the African Prison Reform Association, the Secretary of State to the Ministery of Justice in charge of Prison Administration of the Republic of Cameroon, and the Dean of the African diplomatic corps in the Kingdom of Morocco.
During the forum’s sessions, a number of topics related to the issues and concerns of prison institutions in Africa will be addressed through the interventions of a number of Moroccan and African officials, administrators, and researchers and legal professionals. the forum is expected to conclude its first edition by adopting Rabat Declaration of 2020 on Prison management and Reintegration of inmates.
