Jordan supports Morocco’s measures in Guerguerat
The Foreign Ministry on Saturday voiced Jordan’s full solidarity with Morocco in all its measures taken to protect its national interests, territorial integrity and security.
In a statement, the ministry affirmed its support for the steps ordered by King Mohammed VI of Morocco to restore security in the Guerguerat buffer zone on the border between Morocco and Mauritania and ensure the citizens’ security and the traffic and trade movement.
Ministry Spokesperson Deifallah Fayez condemned the “illegal” incursion into Guerguerat, which violates the signed agreements and pushes towards threatening security and stability.
Fayez stressed Jordan’s “clear and firm” position in supporting the territorial integrity of Morocco and its sovereignty over all its lands and backing efforts to reach a political solution to the Moroccan-Sahara problem, according to international legitimacy decisions and the autonomy initiative launched by Rabat.
