Ali Bongo in Morocco: Old Alliances, New Faces
Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba arrived in the northern Moroccan city of Tangier on Monday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of King Mohammed VI aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
The Gabonese President is accompanied by a delegation comprising the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and La Francophonie, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the Minister of Communication, Postal Services and Digital Economy and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development.
This is the first visit of Ali Bongo to Morocco since he came to power on 30th August last year after the death of his father, Omar Bongo Ondimba, who had ruled Gabon for 41 years.
Beyond the strong ties that the two countries enjoy, Morocco and Gabon have created during the last ten years various opportunities to match large economic partnerships.
