RCA: Presidential elections – Bozizé vs. Patassé

By on April 12, 2010
It’s confirmed, there will be only two candidates for presidential election on 16th of May: Francois Bozizé against Patassé. The poster seems unreal and yet if the elections are not postponed, it will be the single choice which will be offered to the voters.

The main opposition candidates have refused to endorse what they call “an “Arranged electoral farce”, but Ange Felix Patassé doesn’t   see it that way when he declared: “I’m in the event, I do not boycott”, while the Head of State persists and signs that all will be ready on “Election Day” – May 16; a date that never ends to create controversy.
Initially, the United Nations, the European Union, the United States and France have called, in a common spirit, for a technical incompressible twelve weeks postponement. But on Thursday, the French State Secretary for Cooperation, Alain Joyandet, on his visit to Bangui, took note of May 16. This new position is going along with President Bozizé’s declaration to respect the institutional deadlines, but kept all France partners and RCA opponents highly surprised
