Morocco : Sharing experience of decentralisation within Africa
Morocco reiterated, on Tuesday its willing to share experiences in decentralisation with other African countries on the occasion of the meeting of the executive committee of the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLGA) in Rabat.
The Interior State Secretary revealed it while holding talks with UCLGA general secretary who “hailed the action of the Moroccan local government authorities”.
Mr. Hassar, the Interior State Secretary, reaffirmed the commitment of his country to boost South-South cooperation and its willingness « to share experiences in decentralisation and good governance with partners from the continent. »
UCLGA is aimed at promoting decentralisation and boosting the role of local governments to improve the living environment of their population as well as develop the continent from local units.
Last December, Morocco hosted the 5th African summit of local governments, “Africities”, under the theme «The response of African local and regional governments to the global crisis – promotion of sustainable local development and employment – with the participation of 5,000 guests from 47 African countries.
