Sudan: Peace Process on the way
By African Bulletin on May 10, 2010

The forum will serve as a mechanism for coordination and support to the efforts of the Sudanese parties for the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. It will meet at least once every two months to coordinate and harmonise the actions of the peace process in Sudan. The organisers said.
“Participants have pledged to do their utmost to further support to the Sudanese parties, knowing that to achieve peace, justice and lasting reconciliation in Sudan, must come through a Sudanese appropriation and ownership of the process that will strengthen the capacities of honoring their commitments.
The forum also stressed the need for an inclusive political process taking into account all the Darfur matters, including peace, security, economic and social issues, justice and reconciliation.
The forum will be co-chaired by the A.U and the UN. The participants are Sudan, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), League of Arab States, the A.U partners, including the Islamic Conference Organisation, the European Union (EU) partners and bilateral agencies.
Several international organisations, regional partners and the Government of Sudan attended this meeting where the upcoming referendum has been mentioned, among others.
