Guinea Conakry: Race for the Presidency
After the CAR (Circle of Support and Reflection) has proposed its leader, Alpha Condé, on February; it’s time now for the former Prime Minister of Guinea, Francois Fall Loncény, to be invested by his supporters as candidate, during a mass meeting in Conakry. The former long career diplomat and former United Nations representative in Central African Republic has announced he will run for the presidential chair.
Francois Fall Loncény will face other fierce opponents as the historic leader of Guinean opposition, Alpha Condé, favorite of the presidential and two former prime ministers, Sidya Touré and Cellou Dalein Diallo.
The Guinean political scene is dominated by two poles: that of the classical opposition and that of new opponents, all former heads of governments. Analysts say the conquest of power will have a price, and the battle leading to the “Sékoutouréya” presidential palace will be bitter…
