Uganda/RDC: an American Law against the Ugandan rebels
The United States is going to support the efforts of the governments of the region which try to end the activities of the partisans of Joseph Koni, subject of the Permanent International Court warrant for arrest, but in vain, while his men are accused of immortalising atrocities in Uganda, in RDC, in the Central African Republic and in southern Sudan.
The representative of Human Rights Watch in Washington, John Elliott, declared: «we have the opportunity to improve the coordination between the parties, for example the United Nations and the armed forces of the countries of the region, to protect the civilians and handle the victims of the violence. Efforts must be also deployed, on the international plan, to find Joseph Koni and put an end to his campaign of violence against the population.
Washington can play a big role in this level by strengthening the coalition against Koni, added John Eliot. «We cannot say that the United States are the only solution to this problem “, but it is necessary to work on the case to list it among the priorities of the international community.
