Niger: official Installation of the CENI

Prime Minister of Niger, Mahamadou Danda, proceeded on Monday in Niamey, to the official installation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).

He assured all the CNEI members of the Transition authority commitment to respect the schedule proposed by the National Advisory board. So, the Prime Minister gave wages that “the next electoral competitions will be open, free and fair”. He reminded the neutrality of the Transition institutions, and  in particular both prescriptions taken by the president of the  CSRD relative to the neutrality and to the ineligibility of the government members and those of  the armed as well as the security forces.
Mahamadou Danda warned solemnly that “Nothing would be tolerated and nobody is allowed to perturb the path of the coming ballots, aiming to the restoration of democracy, whatever the nature that thing is and whoever that person could be”.
“You are thus arbitrators of the electoral game event, you must be penetrated by the democratic values, to show impartiality, neutrality and independence”, the Prime Minister has added in his speech towards the CENI members.
Towards the technical assistance and the financial partners of Niger, Mr. Danda issued also an official appeal to all, inviting them to accompany his country, the Niger, in its current electoral process.
The new members so settled are called to prepare and to organise the future electoral terms, during this period of transition, to successfully conclude, on March 1st  2011, to the swearing-in of the new president of the Republic, democratically elected.
