Sudan: the Doha negotiations
They underlined the importance of strengthening the ongoing efforts to ensure the success of peace talks in Doha.
“The conference considers that the forum of Doha is a good mechanism of negotiations and the participants expressed their optimism as for a global peace agreement before July 15th”, declared Salah Halima, representative of the Arab League. He added that “the conference underlines the continuation of the coordination between all the concerned parties favorable to a peaceful solution of the conflict in Darfur”. The participants have issued an emergency appeal to all armed movements to participate in the negotiations of Doha “.
The participants discussed the problems hindering the peace process in Darfur, the means to boost it and to coordinate humanitarian efforts in the Sudanese region.
