Burundi: Opposition reiterates its boycott of the electoral process

Twelve parties, grouped in the Alliance of Democrats for Change in Burundi (CDA), reaffirm that they will not resume their participation “in the electoral process before the conclusion of a clear framework for dialogue on electoral disputes concerning violations of the Constitution and electoral code by the CNEI.

They criticise that these violations of law have encouraged massive irregularities and fraud during the elections of May 24. They believe that President Pierre Nkurunziza is and remains the outgoing President. They also attract the international community attention about the president responsibilities about the consequences of any eventual slippage.
In terms of requirements, the ADC refers to the unconditional release of all their members “unjustly” detained, the immediate cessation of violations on the opposition leaders and their activists, the suspension of the  electoral process until the outcome of the dialogue called for and the immediate appointment of a technical committee to prepare this dialogue.
The committee would include, according to the CDA, experts from the United Nations, the United States of America, the European Union, the African Union, as well as delegates of the political parties in the conflict …
