The two candidates, running for the second round of presidential elections in Guinea, have committed to forming a “government of national unity, whatever the outcome of the election scheduled on October 24.

“We met to initiate dialogue and we have two important messages to our members and people of Guinea. First, this election is not a war and whoever is the winner, we commit to form a government of national unity so that all the Guineans will work together to build this country and secondly,  we have decided to maintain contact between us”, the candidate of the Rally of the People of Guinea (RPG), Alpha Condé, has declared after a short meeting with the Minister of State to the Presidency, Mr. Camara Tibou. The candidate of the Union of the Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), Cellou Dalein Diallo, has confirmed the statement of his opponent. “We are committed and we appeal our supporters to show restraint, responsibility to avoid any overflow so that the campaign will take place in good conditions. We’ve both made a commitment to stay associated, despite “he who will be the winner” through a government of national unity, he added.
