Guinea: The Comeback of Moussa Dadis Camara
The Guinean presidential elections are over and Camara thinks it’s time for him to go back home. Currently, the former military junta chief is displaying modest ambitions and has declared his intention to be useful to the country and to the new elected president but do not has any political ambition.
He insisted and voiced: “this is not my ambition at the moment. His expulsion from the country had been described as an opportunity window to complete the democratic transition. And now, a comeback of Camara will be potentially destabilising for Guinea, which has just been given its first democratically elected president in the Guinean history, who must be invested today Tuesday. According to the UN, Camara is criminally responsible for the massacre of September 28, 2009, and although the new president, Alpha Condé has called for reconciliation, and even if the Guinean court will not instruct the case, the Criminal Court (ICC), could take up the case of the former head of state.
