Obama cautious about Libya’s outcome

gadhafi-obamaA breeze of relief for servicemen in NATO coalition to ensure a safe No-Fly-Zone over Libya as stated in U.N. resolution 1973 when president Obama draw a red line not to send troops to overthrow Kadhafi. Obama made it clear not intervene in Libyan internal affairs avoiding a new Iraq scenario that costed a toll death of hundreds of thousand.
In Benghazi, rebels were a bit upset expressing that Kadhafi is a coward and has not many supporters around him as Saddam had. They wished NATO alliance will deliver a fast and clean power handoff as it happened before in Panama.

Strategist are fearing a long operation against Kadhafi especially that informations from Tripoli and around Kadhafi are getting rare. A British military expert described Kadhafi as “a tricky dictator” who could come up with last minute deals to save his soul. Although Obama expressed that Libya could be well without Kadhafi, he never promised to go after him or chase him out the country but instead invited Libyans around him to do so and win back their future in the new Libyan era. Rebel forces, on the other hand, are speeding up towards coastal cities and towns to gather as close as possible to Tripoli as a manoeuver to put pressure on the regime.
Key areas in the country are still controlled by pro Kadhafi forces who could turn over and rally alongside the rebels if the rebels get closer to Bab Al Aziziya especially that they are operating in plain desert such as oilfields in Sarir, Jalo, Zela, Nafoora, Abu Attifel, Atchan field, Al Feel field in the East and Waha field which produce around 350 000 barrels per day. The offshore 70 000 bd Bouri field is not at stake as a strategic field though it is closer to Tripoli.
