King Mohammed VI sent a message to congratulate Moncef Marzouki on his election as new Tunisian President

moncef-marzoukiPrior to His nomination the president of the Republic of Tunisia, Moncef Marzouki has received a telephone call from HM Mohammed VI, on Wednesday. This is Marzouki’s first contact with a head of State.
King Mohammed VI praised the human qualities and democratic commitment of the new President, wishing him full success in his noble mission in the service of Tunisia’s development, prosperity and stability.

King Mohammed VI also expressed satisfaction at the democratic process started by all the Tunisian people and reaffirmed the support of the kingdom of Morocco, including the king, government and people, to the efforts made to achieve the aspirations of the Tunisian people in matters of reinforcing the foundations of the rule of law and institutions and good governance to secure liberty, dignity, citizenship and human rights to everyone.

The Moroccan King expressed as well pride at the fraternal ties of solidarity and fruitful co-operation between the two peoples, reiterating strong determination to reinforce these relations and raise them to the highest levels for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples and Maghreb peoples’ aspirations to unity, complementarities and integration as part of a strong union based on a new Maghreb order likely to represent an active grouping with a weight in its regional and international environment.

On his side, Marzouki expressed high esteem for and congratulations on the success of the reforms initiated in the Kingdom towards consolidating democratic achievements and socio-economic development
