Saint Vincent and the Grenadines freezes recognition of “SADR”,
Since 2000, 32 countries have withdrawn their recognition of this unrecognized entity
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has decided to freeze its recognition of the pseudo “SADR”, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation announced Friday in a statement.
In a joint statement signed at the end of the visit of a multisectoral mission to that country the Caribbean state has decided to freeze its recognition of and diplomatic relations with the SADR, the ministry said.
The decision, said the joint statement signed by Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, takes into account the position already taken by the five other states of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, as well as by the majority of member countries of CARICOM to promote the solution of this problem by the UN Security Council and to encourage the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to reach a mutually acceptable political solution.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines encourages the parties to conduct negotiations in good faith towards a political solution based on realism and a spirit of compromise, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, the joint statement said.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is the eighth country in the Caribbean region to have frozen or withdrawn its recognition of the pseudo republic over the past two years, the ministry said.
Since 2000, 32 countries have withdrawn their recognition of the puppet entity.
