The King of Morocco holds talks with Gabonese President
The King of Morocco Mohammed VI held talks, Friday at the Rabat Royal Palace, with Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of the Republic of Gabon, who is on a visit to Morocco.
The Moroccan Monarch and the Gabonese President hailed the excellent and deep relations between the two countries, said a statement of the King’s Office, adding that these relations have recently witnessed great momentum, and which can serve as a model for South-South and pan-African cooperation.
The two leaders expressed common will to maintain this momentum and to open up promising horizons for both countries as well as their respective regions.
The King and the President of the Republic of Gabon welcomed the implementation of the decisions agreed upon during the royal visit in March 2013 in Gabon, and discussed ways to strengthen economic relations in various fields, mainly agriculture, following the visit by Ali Bongo Ondimba in Morocco last April during which he attended the 6th Agriculture Fair chaired by the King in Meknes, the statement added.
The Joint Commission in Rabat which was recently held in Rabat falls within the same spirit of Morocco’s commitment to lend full support to Gabon’s long-term sustainable development strategy.
Driven by a strong desire to further deepen cooperation the social and economic fields, the King and the Gabonese President called on the state and private economic stakeholders and the civil society community of both countries to continue to explore partnership opportunities in promising growth sectors.
Ali Bongo reiterated the determination of Gabon to help Morocco towards strengthen ties with the Economic Community of Central African States and the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa.
The two Heads of State also hailed the quality of political and strategic relations between the two brotherly countries, which continue to grow on a basis of common cultural and civilizational values.
President Ali Bongo Ondimba also reiterated the unwavering support of Gabon for the Moroccan stand on the Sahara issue as well as the Moroccan Sahara autonomy project as a fair and credible solution to this regional dispute, the statement said.
