Moroccan Monarch King Mohammed VI Offers Donation Of Fertilizer, Animal Feed Supplements To Guinea
The King of Morocco Mohammed VI, accompanied by Guinean President Alpha Condé, offered, Tuesday in Conakry, a donation of fertilizer and animal food supplements to Guinea.
The donation consists of 2,150 tons of fertilizer adapted to Guinean soils and crops, and poultry and cattle feed supplements.
This donation seeks to support Guinea in upgrading its agriculture resources and improve the living conditions of Guinean farmers.
On this occasion, details were given to the King Mohammed VI on the three pilot agricultural projects to be carried out in Guinea, in partnership between the ministry of agriculture and sea fisheries, the Guinean ministry of agriculture and the Phosphates Office (OCP).
It is a pilot project of the Soil Fertility Map in the region of Faranah (100,000 ha) which is aimed at developing a better knowledge of characteristics of Guinea’s soils and their fertilizer needs for a well thought-out fertilization.
The second project is the OCP-organization project in Guinea which will be implemented in the third quarter of the year 2014. The adopted approach concerns adjusting the OCP Caravan concept to the Guinean agronomic context.
The third project, presented by HM the King, concerns the “field schools” and which will be operational by the 2nd quarter of the year 2014. It consists of a field training for farmers in order to promote agricultural and fertilization good practices.
The OCP’s commitment to Africa is based on a “voluntarist” approach relying on three pillars, namely understanding needs, committing to helping farmers and innovating production
