Moussa Mara appointed Mali’s prime minister

Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita on Saturday appointed Moussa Mara as the country’s prime minister to replace Oumar Tatam Ly who resigned from the position, minister for the Presidency Tidiani Djime Diallo said.

Mara was the Minister for Urbanization and Town Planning of the government.

The decree appointing the new prime minister was read on Mali’s national television by Diallo.

“Ministers in the outgoing government will continue executing their functions as they await for the formation of a new government,” he affirmed, without giving reasons for the resignation of Tatam who was appointed to the position on Dec. 5, 2013.
