JICA’s president Akihiko Tanaka, who met with foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar, recalled the Agency’s three activity areas nationally which are improving competitiveness, promoting sustainable development and reducing social and regional differences.
“We have already set up triangular projects with the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) which will enable us to foster cooperation in the months to come,” said Tanaka.
He described as successful the different experiences of collaboration with Morocco which seek to improve the citizens’ living conditions and development nationwide.
On this occasion, the minister gave Tanaka the Alawite wissam of officer rank which was awarded by HM King Mohammed VI.
Mezouar noted that the JICA took part in funding nearly 67 projects worth 2.5 billion dirhams involving several sectors as agriculture, sea fisheries, health and training.

At this meeting, the two sides have welcomed the quality of political relations between the two countries , mainly in 2005 which have gained new momentum after the visit of King Mohammed VI in Japan, said a statement from the department head of government.
Benkirane has focused on the support of JICA development programs initiated in Morocco in various sectors, including water, electricity and infrastructure.
The head of government has highlighted also the efforts of Japanese volunteers in Morocco, through the presence of about 35 Japanese institutions, which strengthens the confidence of Japanese economic actors rooted by the stability of the kingdom and the competitiveness of its economy.
