At least 13 killed in attack on college in Nigeria
Gunmen have attacked a state-run college in northern Nigeria, killing at least 13 people.
The attackers stormed a teacher training college in the northern state of Kano on Wednesday. They fired randomly on students and set off an explosive.
Local police say at least 13 people have been confirmed dead and more than 30 wounded. Most of the victims are reportedly students.
Police say 2 gunmen also died in an exchange of fire with police officers.
A witness said the gunmen opened fire on anyone they encountered.
Police suspect the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram, which is expanding its influence in northern Nigeria.
The group, which rejects Western-style education, is responsible for other attacks.
In April, the group kidnapped more than 200 girls from their school dormitories. The girls remain missing.
