Hackers breached White House network

The American newspaper Washington Post says hackers believed to be working with the Russian government breached the White House computer network in recent weeks.

The Washington Post carried the report in Wednesday’s edition, citing White House sources.

The report said hackers got into the unclassified White House network a few weeks ago, causing temporary disruptions to some services.

But it said there is no evidence to date the hackers broke into the classified network.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest refused to elaborate on the issue.

But he admitted government networks are exposed to cyber attacks on a daily basis. He said it is always a concern for the government that individuals are trying to compromise the systems and get access to the networks.

The Washington Post claims the hackers have targeted NATO and the Ukrainian government as well.
