COP22: King Mohammed VI Postpones His Visit to Ethiopia

King Mohammed VI has postponed his visit to Ethiopia. A statement from the Royal Cabinet said that the sovereign would make Addis Ababa the first step in a second phase of the King’s African tour after the COP22.

According to the statement from the Royal Cabinet, Addis Ababa will be the first step of the second part of the Moroccan monarch’s second tour in East Africa.

The statement from the Royal Palace followed a telephone conversation between King Mohammed and the Ethiopian Prime Minister. During the phone call, the two leaders agreed to reschedule the royal visit just after the holding of the COP22, which will take place in Marrakech from November 7-18

“Mohammed VI and Prime Minister of Ethiopia agreed that the royal visit was a fundamental step in strengthening the bilateral economic partnership and reconciliation between the two brotherly peoples,” the source added.

During this interview, King Mohammed VI and the Ethiopian Prime Minister stressed the importance of ensuring the best possible preparation for the upcoming royal visit.
