The new national carrier has signed at Dubai Air Show a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Europe plane maker Airbus for the purchase of 2 A330neos to be used during the launch of the new airline.
The cost of the deal has not been revealed but the airline’s CEO Philippe Bohn noted that the wide-body aircraft “has proven itself to be the right aircraft, combining low operating costs, long range flying capability and high levels of comfort.”
The jets will be used for medium and long-haul destinations when the airline begins operations next year.
Air Senegal replaces debt-hit Senegal airline which failed to meet authorities’ development plan. The airline is endowed with a capital of $69 million.
It will be the first African airline to operate the A330neo line.
