Mali: Unaware of the Franco-Mauritanian operation against AQIM
He said he was in Chad when he was informed that there was a confrontation in Malian territory. Our national pride has been affected and to some extent, our territory was also hit, the Malian president said at the Mauritanian television. However, and as long as Mauritania, for security reasons, has been forced to perform this operation, we estimated that the security of this country is also ours and we must work together instead of acting alone. The Malian President deplored the fact that every country of the Sahelo-Sahara band, is acting alone to wage war against terrorism by thinking to do well. He suggested that countries should act together to control the vast Sahelo-saharian region, facing other threats than terrorism, including drug trafficking. The Tamanrasset Task Force, which includes officers from Algeria, Mali and Niger, should study and plan for operations to be run together, he recommended.
