The King Mohammed VI Chairs Opening Session Of Fourth Legislative Year Of Ninth Legislature
Moroccan Sovereign HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid chaired on Friday in Rabat the opening of the first session of the fourth legislative year of the 9th legislature.
On this occasion, the Sovereign delivered a speech before the Parliament’s two chambers, in which he affirmed that Moroccans, whether individually or as groups and wherever they may be, can be proud to belong to this country, adding that “as a Moroccan, nothing else is more valuable to me than the sense of belonging to this nation”.
The sovereign called on the Moroccan political stakeholders to adopt “a broad-based ethics charter, which would not be limited to articles in the rules and regulations of the two Houses of Parliament.”
King Mohammed VI also urged parliamentarians to remain mobilized and vigilant to defend the nation’s territorial integrity, commending their earnest efforts through party-based and parliamentary diplomacy.
The Monarch called on all political stakeholders to be well-prepared for the upcoming elections and to respect electors’ will.
HM the King also called on the Higher Council for Education, Training and Scientific Research to reconsider the letter and spirit of reform in the field of education.
Seizing the occasion of the National Women’s Day on October 10, HM the King paid tribute to Moroccan women in all sectors, positions and social categories, at home and abroad, for their active contribution to the country’s development.
Afterwards, HM the King received the speaker of the house of representatives Rachid Talbi Alami who handed the sovereign a report on the house of representatives 2011-2013 results, entitled “50 years of parliamentary action and evolution of parliamentary practice in the world”, as well as the house’s rules of procedure.
The King also received speaker of the house of advisors Mohamed Sheikh Biadillah who gave to the sovereign a report on the house of advisors 2013-2014 results as well as the body’s rules of procedure.
The sovereign also received minister in charge of relations with the parliament and civil society Lahbib Choubani who gave the monarch a report on government action within the parliament for the third legislative year of ninth legislature, as well as an encyclopedia on the fiftieth anniversary of relations between the government and the parliament.
HM the King chaired afterwards a reception organized in honor of parliamentarians on the occasion of the opening session of the fourth legislative year of the ninth legislature.
