Over 30 people killed at Egyptian soccer match
More than 30 people have died just outside of a soccer stadium in Cairo after security forces clashed with fans.
Local media report that many others were injured on Sunday night at a stadium where a professional soccer game was being played. Many people are being treated at hospital.
Egyptian authorities say a riot broke out after security officers barred some fans without tickets from entering the venue. The officers used teargas to disperse the crowd, but a group of hard-core fans set fire to a police vehicle.
Police took measures on Sunday to restrict the number of spectators at the match and bar hard-core fans from entering. This came after 70 people died in similar violence at a soccer game 3 years ago.
ollowing Sunday’s incident, Egyptian professional soccer matches have been suspended indefinitely.
