King Mohammed VI Arrives in Abidjan on Official Visit
Moroccan Sovereign King Mohammed VI arrived on Saturday afternoon in Abidjan on a working and friendship visit to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, the third leg in an African tour that took the sovereign to Senegal and Guinea-Bissau and that will be wrapped up with a visit to Gabon.
Upon arrival at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, the King was received by Ivorian President Alassane Dramane Ouattara and his spouse Mme Dominique Ouattara.
The two leaders headed for the VIP stand to salute the flags while the national anthems of both countries were playing after wards they reviewed an Ivorian military detachment that paid the honours.
The King was then greeted by Speaker of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Assembly, State ministers, members of the government, Mayor of Port Bouet, Governor of Abidjan district, President of the Constitutional Council, President of the Supreme Court, and the President of the High Authority for Governance.
King Mohammed VI was also greeted by Ivorian senior military officials, African and Arab diplomats, members of the Moroccan Embassy, representatives of the Moroccan community in Côte d’Ivoire and senior Moroccan officials taking part in the United Nations Mission in Côte d’Ivoire (ONUCI).
The Ivorian President was afterwards greeted by Advisors to the King, Fouad Ali El Himma and Yassir Zenagui who are part of the official delegation accompanying HM the King.
The Moroccan official delegation includes also foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar, endowments and Islamic affairs minister Ahmed Toufiq, agriculture and fisheries minister Aziz Akhannouch, equipment, transportation and logistics minister Aziz Rabbah, health minister El Hossein El Ouardi, energy, mining, water and environment minister Abdelkader Aamara, tourism minister Lahcen Haddad, and handicraft minister Fatema Marouane, in addition to several directors of public and semi-public bodies.
Afterwards, the official procession headed to the Royal Residence in Abidjan.
