Sapporo Institute for International Solidarity dennounced the Algerian deportation of Sub-Saharan migrants
Sapporo Institute for International Solidarity has dennounced the Algerian deportation of Sub-Saharan migrants, and dfined it as racist and descriminating, and here the full statement:
We have followed the Algerian mass forced deportation operation against Sub-Saharan migrants, and who were brutally arrested of prior to their expulsion from Algeria.
Collected information refers to 1,400 sub-Saharan migrants who were arrested in the Algerian capital in less than a week and placed in detention camps in Algiers or taken to Tamanrasset in the extreme south of the country for deportation. And then Some other 260 Malians were expelled to in a massive swoop against African migrants who accused Algerian security forces for using extreme violence and reported that many had been severely hurt.
And while, we were expecting that Algerian top authorities to act to intervene to stop such violations, we were surprised that the President of Algeria’s National Consultative Commission for Human Rights Protection and Promotion expressed , last week, scandalous statements , accusing African immigrants ¨could risk the spread of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases¨
The Sapporo Institute for International Solidarity (SIIS) denounces such statements and considers as degrading human dignity and regards as an act of racism and discrimination, i.e. a crime against humanity.
The SIIS calls on Algerian authorities to stop these inaccurate conducts against African migrants, and calls on the Algerian justice to investigate on different violations, and to charge those who have manifested racist and discriminating reactions towards migrants, and to take restraining measures against them.
